This academic award ceremony is held as a platform to gather all award recipients, lecturers and staff of the Mechanical Engineering Department. In advance, this event can act as a platform to enhance the bond between Mechanical Engineering Department and Mechanical Engineering Club. Plus, during the past few months, the club’s membership has shown a remarkable increase with more students becoming aware of the club’s existence. The challenge behind this growing number and support lies in the ability to organize such event that will bring together all members. It is also a way to show our appreciation to our members and also to the mechanical students themselves for their concern and support. In addition, the organizing committee will benefit from the experience of organizing this event.

It is our mission indeed to organize such an event so that the valuable experience the members gain will contribute towards developing the well rounded characters desired by the university and the community. Plus, this event will be very beneficial towards strengthens the bond between two different sides of organization of the same family

Convo Fair 2008

One of the big annual event in UTP is Convo Fair that is organized during the July semester. The Convo Fair that was held on 23rd-25th August was among the earliest task assigned to all the committee members as there was a booth of Meche Club opened for the day. Every department in the club had their own task which had been distributed earlier.

Meche club booth sells foods such as Roti Pizza, Roti Bakar Telu Manis, Murtabak Maggi and much more. But among all, the most requested one was the Coconut Shake. There were also football jersey and card collection for new registered member. Members of Mechanical Engineering club got their benefit from the booth as they were given discount for every purchase. All they need to do was show their membership cards and they got the purchase with reasonable and saving price.

All committee members were very committed to perform their duty conforming to shift at the booth. In all, the booth was one way of strengthening the bond within the club members and showed that Meche Club is actively working.

Introductory Night

Mechanical Engineering Club Introductory Night 2007 was organized to introduce the new committee members and the existing high committees along with the advisors of Mechanical Engineering Club. The event was held on August at In2Eat cafe,Pocket D, between 8.00pm to 12.00am. This event was important to keep a good relationship among the committess with the advisors for future working in order to bring this club to the next level in UTP.

OBJECTIVES

1) As a platform to strengthen the bond between Mechanical Engineering Club’s committee and advisors.

2) To share new ideas between the students and lecturers.

3) To gain new experiences in conducting and organizing an event.

4) To enhance importance and necessary skills.

5) To create an opportunity for the students and advisors to get to know each other closer.

ACTIVITIES

The activities of the night was devided to two sessions which are:-

1. Barbeque session
2. Games session

Barbeque Session

Besides enjoying delicious foods during the barbeque session, this activity can strengthen the bond between committee members of Mechanical Engineering Club as they had chances to get to know each other closer.

There were various kind of food during the barbeque session including fried rice ,sausage, chicken, meat, orange juice and fruits.

Games Session
After having the meals, the games session was held where it included two fun games organized by Games & Competition Committee. The games were Musical Chair and Regu. It can be seen that everbody was having fun.

8.00pm - Students arrival
8.15pm - Advisors arrival / VIP arrival
8.30pm - Welcoming speech from the President of Mechanical Engineering Club
8.45pm - Speech from the Advisor of Mechanical Engineering Club / speech by all head department
9.00pm -Barbeque session
10.00pm - Ice breaking session with each department
10.10pm - Games session
11.45pm - Closing ceremony
12.00am - Adjourned

Overall, with all the support from Mechanical Engineering Club committee members and advisors, this event was successfully organized and achieved the objectives.

Objective
1. To provide overall and general services to cater for the needs of the Mechanical Engineering students of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.

2. To support Mechanical Engineering students and also the general students of the university in matters concerning academic and non-academic.

3. To create intelligent, mature and motivated Mechanical Engineering students so that they will be the ideal engineers when they graduate.

4. To provide professional help and advice regarding academic and non-academic matters through any means possible to the Mechanical Engineering students and also the students of other courses.

5. To instill in students good team spirit and ability to manage their work groups.

6. To establish and maintain good relationship with corporate companies, especially those that are subsidiaries of PETRONAS in order to gain experience, assistance and information for the benefit of the students.

7. To become the center for Mechanical Engineering-related matters in the university.

Vision
In 2006, the Club's High Committee agreed a new Statement of Intent:

1) The Club will focus on defining its future stance and aspirations, and implementing appropriate changes. Whilst pursuing this imperative, the MechE Club will continue to establish dialogue and collaborate with any other engineering institution which shares its view of the future.

2) The Club will continue to expand membership to the extent of all Mechanical Engineering Society in UTP.

3) The Club will seek to put in place a framework which will:
- enhance the impact of, and income generated by, its events program.
-enhance club support for Membership and students' welfare.
-develop an appropriate and cost-effective in-campus profile.
-reduce membership application processing time.
